Mentorship Program

Moose Lake Pentecostal Camp offers a Mentorship program

The Moose Lake Pentecostal Camp Mentorship Program was birthed out of a heart and passion to see young people not just live a Christian life, but truly flourish as the person God created them to be. We believe God has created each person with a purpose, full of gifts and dreams that they were created to fulfill.

Although our youth come from all types of backgrounds they all have something in common – the desire to be a part of a community of friends where they can experience fun, faith and friendship in a safe environment. Studies have shown that over 70% of young people who go on a mission trip or have a youth camp experience are marked for life and continue to be rooted in their faith. We believe that our camp is a perfect place for these youth to come together and grow into faith-filled, grounded, passionate young people.

This year we will be accepting up to 6 girls and 6 boys in the program between the ages of 14-17 years old. The program will begin Saturday June 29th, 2024 and will run until Sunday July 28th, 2024.

During the month of mentorship, the participants will have daily interactive devotions with leaders, they will be expected to align with our vision and mission, all while learning to work alongside others. They will attend the camp of their own age group and then serve during the remainder of the other camps through various ways.
Some of the activities that could be required include:

  • Counseling at younger camps
  • Assisting camp directors in activities, child care, sports, etc.
  • Assisting in the kitchen or cleaning throughout the grounds and various buildings
  • Serving in the tuck shop, in media or other areas of need at the camp

The dates of our youth camps are as follows:

  • Senior High Camp: June 30th – July 5th 2024
  • Junior High Camp: July 7th – July 12th 2024
  • Kids Camp: July 14th – 19th 2024

Family Camp (July 20th – 28th 2024)

Kristen Lagore will be the Mentorship Program Director this year. Kristen is a youth pastor and is also heavily involved in hosting various Christian clubs in local schools throughout the year. Her role is to be on the grounds for the duration of the program and will be the key contact for all of the participants. Kristen will organize their schedules, check in with them on a regular basis and lead some of the girls daily devotionals and mentorship times. The boys will be under the direction of Morgan Allen who is a Bible College Professor at Nipawin Bible College as well as the Facilities Manager at Moose Lake Pentecostal Camp. The boys daily devotions and mentorship will be led by various male leaders on site.
The participants will be staying in dorms (boys and girls separate) for the month of July, excluding the time they are attending their own camp or if they are counseling a cabin in the younger camps, at which time they will stay with campers. They will be required to do approximately 30-35 hours of work per week (excluding the weeks they attend or counsel camps). The work will be spread out throughout the week and some of it may be done on the weekends.

The Mentorship Program provides the participants with their food and lodging for the month of July, a camp t-shirt as well as registration to their own camp. We also provide each of them with a $100 tab at the tuck shop. Our goal is to also provide each participant with a small honorarium at the end of the full month of serving.

The cost to run the program is approximately $1500 per person if we have 12 participants attend. This covers the cost of the program director, food, lodging, camp fees, merch, facility expenses, etc. In order to cover this cost, we ask that the participants raise their own money (minimum $500) to support their attendance in the program. Anyone can donate to the Mentorship Program for a tax donation through the Moose Lake Pentecostal Camp website.

Please be sure to note “Mentorship Program” and the name of the participant you are donating towards when making the donation online.

All youth who apply for the program will need to fill out a questionnaire and provide a reference from a spiritual leader in their life. Registration will open March 1st 2024 on our website. You will be notified by April 30th 2024 whether you have been accepted into the program.

This is a program designed for young people who are committed to growing in their faith and relationships, who are looking to willingly serve with open hearts and truly wanting to encounter God, the Holy Spirit and experience real change.
